Studio GR was born in 1978, founded by Giovanni Granzotto and Beppe Rigato, with the precise intention, since the beginning, to articulate its activity in a mix of commercial purposes, promotion and artistic support, with a consequent division of roles among the members . Over the years, the paths of the two founders are divided and the Studio, now only with Giovanni Granzotto , is enriched with new professional skills.
The initial interest focuses on the work of the great masters of the nineteenth century in the Veneto and on subsequent generations. Starting from the mid-eighties, the firm’s core business turned towards abstraction, dealing with many actors of the Italian Informal and the entire Spatialist movement. From the second half of the nineties this activity is further enriched, with a total immersion in the world of programmed art. Currently, the gallery alternates its traditional activity with the discovery and promotion of young talents who, by experimenting with the most varied media, still maintain a dynamic attitude towards chromatic vibration and light research.
Giovanni Granzotto was born on March 15, 1951 in Sacile (PN), where he still resides.
After graduating in Law at University of Padua, he attended a Master in Business Organization and a Course in Art and Finance at the London School of Economics at CUOA . During the seventies he collaborated on the cultural pages of Il Piccolo di Trieste and the Messaggero di Udine.
He has more than four hundred publications of critical texts related to public exhibitions organized by him, or of which he was a scientific committee.
Studio d’Arte GR represents Riccardo Licata, of whom he also manages the General Archive of Works, Jorrit Tornquist , Gino Morandis , Tommaso Bet , Mara Fabbro, and, for Italy, Gilbert Hsiao . It deals with the work of the great masters of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries in Veneto; of some of the most important exponents of Informal and Spatialism, such as Afro Basaldella, Emilio Vedova, Hans Hartung , Pierre Soulages , Tancredi Parmeggiani , Giuseppe Santomaso , Virgilio Guidi, Mario Deluigi , Gino Morandis , Vinicio Vianello; of the major Italian and international exponents of Programmed and Kinetic Art.
Since 1978 Giovanni Granzotto , in collaboration with the Studio d’Arte GR, has worked on the creation of over four hundred public exhibitions in museums around the world. In the same years, Studio d’Arte GR organized several hundred private exhibition reviews.
