Fernando Picenni

1929 Italy

Fernando Picenni was born in Bergamo in 1929, began to paint at a very young age and devoted himself entirely to painting in 1959. These were the years of attending the Bar Jamaica, Piero Manzoni, Enrico Castellani, Tancredi, the attraction for Sironi and for the painful plastic research of Nicolas Di Staël . He made a deep friendship with Gianfranco Ferroni and Dadamaino. After some group exhibitions, including participation in the San Fedele Prize, at that time highly coveted, the first personal exhibition was in 1961 at the Salone Annunciata in Milan, with a catalog curated by Emilio Tadini. During the seventies he frequently attended the artists Ben Ormenese , Felice Canonico and Paolo Conti. Between 1976 and 1977 the art of Picenni turns towards geometric abstraction. In 2006 he is the great anthological exhibition at the National Museum of Villa Pisani in Stra ̀.
